Mustapha: Embrace, translate the ideas of 'Malaysia Madani' in writing

KOTA KINABALU, 21 January 2023 (Berita RTM): Writers in Sabah are advised to embrace the idea of a Civilized Malaysia (Malaysia Madani) and translate it into writing. Deputy Minister of Human Resources, Mustapha Sakmud said the effort was important so that the country's goal of producing a knowledgeable, skilled and virtuous society could be realized.

"The important thing is that we need to build the minds of the community so that they can understand the message brought by the Unity Government under the leadership of the Right Honourable Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim with the context of Civil Malaysia itself. I think the role of the writers themselves is very necessary to translate it in the context of the State of Sabah."

He was met by the media after officiating the Sabah Writers Association (IPS) 2023 Annual General Meeting in Kota Kinabalu. Mustapha added, writers need to promote the values of Madani Malaysia such as respect and courtesy.

In the meantime, he, who is also a Member of Parliament for Sepanggar, invited local writers to succeed in the goal of Sepanggar Prosperity through the implementation of educational activities, skill development, culture, art and literature.

Also present were First Deputy Director of Sabah Branch the Institute of Language of Literature (Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka), Rusdi Awang, President of IPS, Awang Abdul Muizz Awang Marusin, local community leaders and writers' association leaders in Sabah.

Earlier, Awang Abdul Muizz expressed IPS's support for the idea of Madani Malaysia. According to him, IPS has done it in its own way since IPS was founded in 1990 through activities like writing, publishing, analysis of works, literary road trips to schools throughout the state of Sabah and the development of community libraries such as Hasyuda Abadi's Poetry House.
